Lamentations 3:22–23 (ESV)
"The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning."
1Reflection
A man wrote this while looking at a burned city. Lamentations is grief poetry — Jerusalem in ruins, people starving. And in the middle of it, this. Not denial. He's already described the wreckage in detail. He just won't let the wreckage be the only true thing. Mercy doesn't carry over like rolled-up debt. It doesn't get used up by yesterday. You wake and there's a fresh batch, made overnight, enough for one day. You can't stockpile it, and you don't have to. Tomorrow's comes tomorrow.
2Prayer
God, I used up a lot yesterday. Thank you that this morning came with more. Amen.
3Today's Action
Tomorrow when you wake, before your phone, say one line: "New mercy today." Then get up.
